Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI going into limp mode

When I take my 2010 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI onto the motorway it goes into limp mode. I have checked the engine and found a lot of carbon like soot under the airfilter box and around the back of the engine. I have tried changing the oil and all the filters and also a valve cleaner, but it is still no better. What should I try next to fix this fault?

Garage job, I'm afraid. These engines are highly prone to injector problems, but the soot might indicate a choked up EGR.
