Golf auto hill start difficulty

I own a 2013 Volkswagen Golf auto and have trouble starting the car on hills. We never had this problem with our old 2006 Golf auto, is there a fault?

No, it's the difference between a torque converter auto in your 2006 Golf and the DSG in your current Golf. The answer is to left foot brake. This is necessary to retain full control over any automatic anyway and prevent the 'runaway automatic accidents' we seem to read about every week.
