Jaguar XE transmission problems

I took delivery of my Jaguar XE 2.0 petrol automatic six months ago. However, it has developed a noise in the transmission somewhere (as well as other problems). The dealer has admitted that there is a problem and has carried out running tests and sent the results off to Jaguar who advised the dealer to replace the prop shaft.

This has been done but the noise fault remains and we are now in limbo. The dealer has had my car for two weeks now and I do not know where to go from here. Am I entitled to a full refund or a new replacement car to the same spec? What are my legal rights?

Having run the car since July you are not entitled to a new replacement. You are entitled to having the dealer buy it back for market value or part exchange it for a new car after paying for your six months use of it. Unless you emailed before, this is the second complaint of automatic transmission whine on the XE. Your consumer rights are here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/

Superb ride comfort and fuel economy. Eight-speed automatic is excellent. Interior is much improved from 2019.
