Which wheel size for a hybrid?

I am looking at buying a new Toyota Auris Hybrid, either hatch or estate.
What wheel size do you recommend for a comfortable ride?

I have been told by the dealer that although Toyota do not recommend fitting a tow bar, it would be OK to fit one just to tow a small garden trailer with garden rubbish to the local tip. I do intend to tow anything larger. What are your thoughts on both these questions?

The problem with towbars is their legality. Even if you don't intend to tow much the towbar has to be EC Type Approved for the car because of its effect on other vehicles that may hit it and on the deformation of the car it is fitted to. The Auris is a conumdrum because it actually drives and handles far better on the 17" wheel option with45 profile tyres, even though common sense and reason say that the 65 profile 15" wheels and tyres must cushion bumps better. I've just gone from 17" wheels with 45 profile tyres on a Jazz to 15" wheels with 65 profile tyres and, though the wheels and tyres are less subject to damage, there isn't much difference in ride quality.
