Skoda Yeti or BMW X1?

I am looking to replace one of my cars and am considering the Skoda Yeti 1.2 DSG but I don't like the gearbox and would prefer a torque convertor so am therefore considering the BMW X1 sDrive auto which has mixed reviews and has a Diesel Particulate Filter which is something else I don't like. I have owned diesel cars without DPF's for over 20 years and prefer these to petrol but maybe it's time to change?

Unless you will be doing 15,000 miles a year or more the maintenance costs of a diesel outweigh any fuel economy benefit. You should probably try the new Suzuki Vitara S 1.4T BoosterJet that comes either as 6 speed manual or 6 speed torque converter auto (the diesel auto is twin clutch auto).
