Winter tyres for Golf - which would you recommend?

I wish to fit winter tyres to my 2013 VW Golf 1.2 TSI. Kwik fit are trying to push me to Cross Climate tyres saying they are fine in winter and fine in the summer - best of both worlds. My fear is they are the worst of both, though the thought of not having to change / store twice a year appeals to me.

Very good indeed, particularly in in-between conditions such as very cold rain and slush.
