Which is the better choice between these two cars?

I am buying a new car for my wife, and it's gonna be her first car.

I have two offers:

Mazda X3 Sport Nav, 2 litre petrol, Auto, stone leather seats, soul red body

Or

Mercedes A class 180 CDI, 1.5 litre diesel, Auto, black leather, cosmos black body
(From the offers I have, Mercedes is 1000 cheaper)

Please help.
