MOT chaos

It took me 3 days last week to get my MOT done. 1st day computer MOT system down so asked to come back next day. During test system crashed again but test completed. Passed but no certificate, garage later updated system and I had to return following day to collect certificate.
I am now trying to tax vehicle as going to France for a month, it runs out at the end of September and not back until 4th October. System says its not MOT'd. Rang DVSA and told to go to Post Office, not really got time to do that as on ferry tomorrow. I will try and tax it online from abroad but if I can't I'm driving back from Dover with no tax and risk having vehicle seized. Whats being done about this chaos ?

There have been a number of reports of a less than exemplary service from the DVLA recently. However, since no paper is involved, you can repeatedly attempt to tax the car online from wherever you are going. If you have a laptop or ipad, keep a few screensaves of your attempts to prove that you did attempt to tax it and that the fault is with the DVLA/DVSA or whatever it calls itself these days.
