Honda CR-V i-CTDi vs i-VTEC

I can't decide whether to buy a Honda CR-V 2.2 i-CTDi or CR-V 2.0 i-VTEC petrol. My budget is £9000 and I plan to use it as our main family car driving 10000 miles per year. Which version would be more reliable, less problematic and cheaper to service? If going for the CRV petrol would the auto or manual be better option in terms of reliability and costs? Thank you

The petrol version is the most reliable but uses a lot more fuel than the diesel. There are no DPF worries with a 2009 CR-V 2.2 i-CTDi because it doesn't have one (the 2.2 i-DTEC does). The petrol auto is sluggish and seems to be forever hunting between gears.
