What to look for in a used Skoda Yeti?

My father's looking to replace his 2003 Ford Focus. He wants something slightly bigger but can't be much longer due to tight parking at his work.
A Skoda Yeti would be absolutely perfect but I understand they're still very desirable. Can a used Yeti be found for around £4-5k and would such a car be a reasonable buy or a risk? Would you recommend petrol or diesel?

Found a 96,000 mile 2010 1.2TSI asking £4995. Best I can do. Cam chains can have problems. Better to think Ford C-Max and better petrol in this price range because £4k-£5k diesels can come with a lot of expensive problems.
