Golf R haldex failure - what are my rights?

My 2012 Volkswagen Golf R recently had its major service and Haldex oil replaced. However, within weeks of the work, the Haldex failed along with the rear differential.

The car is just out of warranty and the dealer is offering to pay half of the £5500 repair bill. Could this fault be related to the service? Shouldn't Volkswagen pay the full amount of the repair?

It's a routine service. But it might not have been done properly. Either over filled, under filled or filled with the wrong fluid. You can confirm this with an inspection by www.ssandg.co.uk/ or by www.scotiavehicleinspection.com/

If this proves to be the case, you can sue the dealer who carried out the oil change for the full cost of the repair: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
