Can you recommend a used SUV for towing?

I want to get a car to replace the Mitsubishi truck I own. I am undecided on a used Honda CR-V or Mitsubishi Outlander. It will be used generally as a runabout and must be capable of launching a 16 foot boat on a trailer from a sandy beach, which would be the best for the job and most reliable?

An Outlander with the Mitsubishi 2262cc chain cam diesel engine is tougher with more effective four=wheel drive and is also reasonably economical. I got 45mpg.

Easy to drive. Most variants have seven seats. Economical diesel engines. Large and practical boot. Decent safety kit.
