Why did my Volvo V70's windows open during a ferry crossing?

I recently made a ferry crossing to France with my new Volvo V70 2.0D which, incidentally, I’m really happy with. When I returned to my car on the outward trip I realised that the alarm had gone off. I read the manual and realised that I should have set the alarm to reduced guard. On my return journey I set the alarm as described and, after about 15 minutes, I was summoned by the ships PA system to visit the car deck, as there was a problem with my car. All the windows were open! I closed them using the remote key function.

At the end of the journey I returned to the car to find again all the windows were open. The doors were locked. On my return home I spoke to the supplying garage, questioning if this is a problem with the car. They confirmed I had set the alarm properly and they checked the car over and could see no real reason for the windows to open. A difficult job, as it is impossible for them to replicate ferry conditions. Have you heard of this problem? Have any of your readers had similar incidents?

I think you must have set it incorrectly. Check the driver's manual for all the functions of your remote key.
