Nissan garage has overfilled my car with oil

My three year old Nissan Qashqai was serviced several days ago at a local dealer. The following day a warning light came on. I checked the oil level and found that it has been overfilled by 5mm, do you think this may be causing the light to come on & do you think there will be any consequences on overfilling?
Yes. Get it back to the dealer, have the oil drained to the correct level and send him a letter by post office special delivery (so it becomes a matter of record) stating that you hold him responsible for the malfunction light coming on and for any damage consequential of the overfilling with oil.
