Should a manufacturer's warranty cover a faulty USB socket?

I took my 12 month old Kia Sorrento back to the garage for my 12 month service. AS well as the service, the dealer was going to fix the cigarette lighter, phone charger, USB and accessory plug which had become loose and was moving about.

The engineer came to me and said he could not do this under the warranty as it was not a fault, but accidental damage. As a result, the replacement would cost £261. I find this quite unacceptable. What can I do?

Sorry, I haven't heard of this before, not experienced it myself despite driving thousands of miles in Sorentos. I'll add it to the car by car entry, but if this went to court and the mechanic testified the assembly had been damaged you probably would not win the case. You would only have a case if a number of other people reported the same problem.
