Bonnet open warning light stuck on

My Volvo V70's bonnet open warning light is stuck on, despite the fact the bonnet is firmly locked. This happened a couple of years ago and the Volvo garage said it needed new locks at nearly £300, but the warning light went off and I left it.

I think this indicates a faulty/over active sensor - have you heard of this problem with the Volvo (V70 particularly) bonnet lock? Is there any adjustments that can be made?

This isn't a sensor, it's a switch, so all you have to do is find it dry it out and clean it up.
