Need a robust pick-up for £8k - any suggestions?

My stepfather needs a pick-up which can tow a cattle trailer and return decent economy (30+mpg) for his normal day job. He has £8000 to spend and needs four-wheel drive. Any ideas?

Isuzu D-Max (known as Rodeo in UK) from 2008 with the I-TEQ 2.5 or 3.0 chain cam engine. Lovely engine and transmission, 3000kg + towing limit, comfortable seats (I've driven one 500 miles in one go). About 36mpg driving solo, not more than 80mph.
