Broken car after 2 days of owning it - what are my rights?

I just bought this car on Thursday, this is my first car I only passed my driving test on Wednesday. I bought this car for 750 it was advertised as 890 and I offered 800 for it and he came back and offered my 750. so I accepted. but after 2 days I was travelling to my brothers to show him my car. but this car cut out on a central reservation on the way there, and the car is shuddering when im driving (maybe clutch fault) my cars an automatic. the car dealer I bought it from told me to take it to a garage miles away so it out the question to drive it there. I told him this and he told me to get a transporter there and they mite fix it. should they fix the car for me and organinze a transporter to take it away. I just want my car fixed. I also was told that it would sail through it mot but I got home and I have an advisory on the mot certificate for a corroded brake pipe. can I get them to fix this aswell or is it my fault for not looking at the mot certificate at the car dealers. am I covered under the sale of goods act before I ring them. thanks Debbie

This is a very cheap old car, bought for less than 10% of its new price so you can't expect perfection. But because you bought it from a dealer you can expect it to go. And if he doesn't fix it you have the choice of demanding your money back and suing him for it or having it fixed and suing him for the cost. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/list/
