Replacing Honda Civic petrol with a Honda CRV 1.6 Diesel

I have a 2012 Honda Civic which is fine except it is really cramped in the back with 4 adults. I have been very impressed by my local Honda agents Yeomans Littlehampton, convenient and very attentive service. They are suggesting I upgrade to a CRV 1.6i-DTEC but I worry about modern diesels and short journeys. I understand this is a new type of diesel but what is the real life experience? I do around 10,000miles a year but 2/3 of this is relatively short local journeys.

Other cars on my list are Golf SV, BMW2 Active Tourer and C-MAx as I understand each gives the options of extended rear leg room.

What would you advise?

Many thanks

Colin

The Honda 1.6iDTEC is not a manifold in head diesel, but is extremely efficient, which is good for the life of the DPF. No DPF problems reported with this engine so far. The Golf SV is excellent with the 140/150PS 1.4TSI ACT engine. A very likeable car. Great styling detail that makes a box not look like a box. Active Tourer okay. C-Max Okay. I'd try a Golf SV 1.4TSI ACT before settling on the CR-V.
