Can a Nissan X-Trail tow a horse trailer?

We want to buy a Nissan X-Trail 2.2 diesel. Would it be able to tow a single horse trailer with a small horse/pony in it weighing about 450kg? We would be towing only to local events no longer than an hour away.

No problem as long as you keep the total towed weight well under 2000kg. But because it does not have low range gears, be careful not to burn out the clutch when manoeuvring the trailer.
