Head gasket gone - should the dealer pay for repairs?

I bought a used Ford Fusion from a dealer 12 months ago. Last week the head gasket went and the car now needs a new engine. The car was bought with 11,000 miles, but I am a high mileage user and had the car serviced and MoT by an independent garage.

The car has only covered 34,000 miles but the warranty ran out one month ago. Am I entitled to any claim from the garage?
