How can I get my proof of no-claims from my insurer who is messing me around?

My insurer of 23 years recently sent me my formal car renewal notice only a few days before it was due, despite my requests a month prior. In that time, they also refused to produce proof of no-claims (saying I had to ask the underwriter) and sent a proposal without the car details or registration on it. Simultaneously, I asked them to reactivate a policy that I’ve had with them for another vehicle which had been in storage / SORN for 23 months, while my partner was not driving. On this occasion, despite our requests, they waited until the 24-month ‘shelf-life’ NCB had expired and then sent us a hiked New Business quotation.

I have been with this company for 27 years and have never needed to make a claim on any car or policy, nor anyone against me. They have now used every trick in the book to prevent me from going elsewhere. They have insisted that a Direct Debit will nevertheless be applied ‘to keep me on the road’ but I have cancelled it and am now without insurance until I can shop around for a better deal. Despite my best efforts, we are without both cars thanks to this company's behaviour. Please can you tell me how I can get the documents (such as proof of No-Claims with the car make and reg) I need from them to go to an honest insurer, and please tell me if there is any official body to which I can make a complaint? In one of the useless documents they sent me was a policy document for someone else’s house.
