Why is my Astra blowing smoke?

My Vauxhall Astra is blowing smoke and the engine management light has come on. I have been told that its the EGR valve. Its been cleaned out properly. But isn still smoking and juddering. Do you think an engine flush will help or a steel seal?

Well you do not say what colour the smoke is, white/blue/black?

Given that you have the engine management light on, you may be best to have a diagnostic carried out in the first instance as this should identify by code (ie P ---- 4 numbers) what the actual fault is. By doing this you could actually save time and money in the long run.
