How can I dispute a parking charge notice I received due to a faulty machine?

Yesterday I received a Parking Charge Notice. I put the money in the machine and did not receive a ticket. I put a notice in the windscreen to that effect. I have written a letter protesting my innocence and advised them of my note. As I have paid, I feel aggrieved about all this. How do you think I stand?

I’m hearing a lot of this sort of outrage. Agencies fail to maintain their ticket machines, then issue penalties to drivers unable to buy tickets. That is fraud. Challenge them to take you to court where you will plead that you were unable to buy the parking ticket due to their negligence in failing to maintain the machine that should have issued it. Tell them that if they take you to court and you win your case you will sue them for your wasted time at whatever rate you are paid. I’d like to see judges levy heavy fines on parking enforcers who try this.
