Should Audi cover the cost of my A4's faulty ECU?

One injector of my Audi A4 2.0TDI failed. Audi replaced all four injectors free of charge. However, after they were replaced, the car would not start and a fault was traced to the ECU. On reading the thread from your website dated 26 June 2011, there was an e-mail from VOSA stating that the ECU shuts down due to an oil seal in the plug of the Piezo actuator failing, which causes a short to earth. The Audi dealership required me to pay for the ECU and tracing of the fault. Am I in my right in demanding to be reimbursed for this as the injector failing caused the ECU to stop working?

Thanks. That letter from VOSA is really useful. A lot of owners had trouble after the injectors recall, mainly from stuffed DPFs. But the dealer that fitted the new injectors is liable for any damage caused by that and, if he won’t fix it, threaten to have it fixed elsewhere and to sue him for it via the small claims track of the county court, starting with www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/. In readers' experience, some VAG dealers are excellent. Others will try to wriggle out of anything that affects their bottom line and will only fix it properly when under threat.
