Which SUV offers luxury interior and easy access?

Thank you for your recent good advice on a replacement for my Jaguar XFS. However, being realistic, advancing years and stiffer joints tell me I should consider a car that I get up into and down out of. Ideally it would have the luxury and something approaching the performance of the Jaguar. I also know that anything with the name ‘Range Rover’ is £10,000 extra just for the badge. Any words of wisdom to offer please?

The best value big SUVs are the KIA Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe, though nicer to drive as manuals than as automatics. You need spend 'only' £28,000 on what could cost you twice as much from Land Rover, Audi, BMW or Porsche. The in-between exception is the Volkswagen Touareg, sometimes discounted to around £35,000.
