How can I clear the windscreen washer filter on our BMW 320d?

The windscreen washer water filter of my wife’s 2003 BMW 320d is blocked. The nozzles are ok, but not having used the windscreen water for six months due to illness, the filter is blocked. The car handbook gives no help regarding cleaning the small filter. As I do all the user maintenance on our cars, can you give any tips on how to get at the filter? Or, if there is an additive on the market that will clear the filter? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Get a hosepipe. Shove it right down into the bottom of the washer reservoir and get someone to turn on the tap while you hold it down. That should blast all the crud out of the top. Then sterilise the reservoir using Milton baby bottle steriliser. That should stop the slime growing back. Then use BMW branded washer concentrate.
