Why are my Volvo SC60's brake calipers corroding so badly?

The brake calipers of my Volvo XC60 are heavily discoloured and corroding, particularly those on the front. The car is only seven months old and I've owned it since new. This is my sixth Volvo and I've never experienced anything like this, nor could I find any evidence of similar problems on used cars I inspected at my local Volvo dealership. After I discussed this with Customer Service at Volvo UK they have now offered to treat and paint the calipers. Am I being unreasonable in saying I'm not at all happy with this and insisting the calipers be replaced?

If the callipers are not coated (most are not coated) then they will naturally oxidise. This is superficial. It doesn't look very nice but does not affect their performance. It's decent of the Volvo dealer to offer to clean and paint them for you. He'll probably use Sperex VHT paint and ask you to choose a colour.
