Which wheels and tyres should I have fitted to a BMW X1?

I am considering exchanging my BMW X1 2.0 Xdrive for one of the three variants (SE, Urban or Sport) of the 1-Series 120D Sport 5door Xdrive. I would appreciate your opinion of these 4WDs and whether 16-inch or 17-inch wheels would give me the most comfortable ride?

It's tested here in the snow: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/bmw/bmw-1-series-f.../. 16-inch wheels will give the most comfortable ride, and Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons M&S tyres not only work brilliantly in snow but can be left on all year round.
