How can I negotiate a discount on a secondhand car?

If I approach a dealer offering a secondhand car for £10,000 how much discount might I expect? What should be my starting bid?

Depends on the demand for the car, what the dealer paid for it, and how good a businessman the dealer is. Research what similar cars are going for elsewhere (what they're going for, not the asking prices) and work from that.
