What should I do about my Peugeot 206 XS that cuts out at traffic lights?

I have a 2000 Peugeot 206 XS 1.6. Recently, and with random spontaneity, I am experiencing engine cut-outs. These happen when I am slowing down for, or am stopped at lights, roundabouts and traffic. When it chooses to cut out, which is about once a month, it takes 5-10 minutes to turn back on, which can be very inconvenient especially when it cuts out at the Dartford Toll. There was a BBC Watchdog report on it in 2004. I am now worried to use the car when I have to be somewhere at a certain time. Do you have any advice for me?

Get rid of the car. It's 13 years old and was never a good car anyway. It’s pointless pouring money into something that's only worth about £600 anyway. Full list of problems (and some cures): www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/peugeot/206-1998/?se...d
