Should my Mercedes-Benz E280's turbo have blown after 35,000 miles?

I bought a new Mercedes E280 CDI in 2008. Is it reasonable for the turbo to have blown after only 35,000 miles?
It depends how the turbo was treated and how the engine was maintained. If you live in a hilly area and habitually switch the engine off immediately after a steep ascent or after towing, then the turbo will have become red-hot and then oil in its bearings will have carbonised. If you did not change the oil frequently enough then the oilway to the turbo bearing could have become blocked.
