Where can I get a new fuel tank for my rare Mitsubishi Sigma?

I have owned a 1993 Mitsubishi Sigma 3-litre estate for 15 years and now there are only about six left in England. Unfortunately the petrol tank has given way and leaks everywhere. I was wondering if this could be repaired or replaced with a plastic one, as the car is rather unusual. The manufacturer can supply another tank, but it has to be specially made, imported then fitted and as the car cannot be driven it needs a recovery vehicle to take it to a garage. I know petrol tanks used to be welded after emptying, cleaning with saline then welded but Health and Safety rules do not allow this so is there any other way?

The only other way would be to find a plastic tank that would fit. It is not going to fit exactly and will probably be a lot smaller. Alternatively, fit a racing fuel tank that you can get either already fabricated or custom made from someone like www.proalloy.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=sect&am...y
