How can I prevent reflections of the dash in the windscreen of our Honda Jazz?

My wife has just recently bought a new Honda Jazz. It is a good, comfortable car. One of the issues is, however, reflections of the horizontal part of the dashboard in the windscreen on the driver's side. Is this a common problem, and if so is there anything that you would recommend to deal with it? The garage doesn't have any suggestions other than to get a non-slip mat from Halfords.

Common on a lot of cars. You can buy polarising glasses, you can cover the dashtop with black felt or you can simply train your brain to ignore the reflections. That's what I do.
