Should my Mondeo's cam belt have failed after 30,828 miles?
My car is a 1997 Mondeo 1.8TD, currently with 197,000 miles on clock. I've had it from new and the performance and fuel consumption are the same as when it was new. It has been extremely reliable, and apart from a new clutch at 163,000miles, the only major expense has been repairs to the head after the cam belt failure. I had this replaced every 40,000, but the last one failed after 30,828 miles. Have there been any successful legal challenges on premature cam belt failure?
No because numerous other factors could have contributed to its failure. This was a 15-year-old engine with nearly 200,000 miles on it.
