Could I have used contaminated fuel?

The day after filling up the tank and for the last two days have noticed a considerable drop in performance in my Volvo V70, with sluggish performance and a lagging speedometer and rev counter.

It remains sluggish for a few miles and poor on the climb. Performance improves slightly after a while as I use the motorway everyday. Apart from thinking I have fuel contamination and whilst burning the tank off in my commute, what other considerations should I be thinking of after filling the tank with top notch diesel?

Probably globules of emulsified fuel in the biofuel element of the diesel. Run it off then start using decent diesel such as Shell V-Power Nitro +. It usually pays for itself in improved mpg.
