Buying a Nissan Qashqai - diesel or petrol?

I'm looking at buying a Nissan Qashqai that's 1-2 years old. I'm not sure whether to go for the 1.5dci or 1.6 petrol. I do around 8-10k miles a year and have never had a problem with the diesel.

However, I've read a lot of reviews about a filter system that may be a problem. The only problem I have with the petrol is that it's a five-speed and it revs high above 55mph. This would annoy me on longer journeys! What would your advice be?

The 1.6 petrol is chain cam. But, you're right. The Qashqai 1.6 is both underpowered and undergeared, which makes it very noisy on the motorway. So in this case go for the 1.5. And if it's early 2010 or earlier it won't have a diesel particulate filter to worry about.
