Is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class CVT automatic gearbox reliable?

A dog has arrived in the family and a hatchback is required to prevent the rear seat getting ruined. I currently have a 2006 Saab 9-3 Vector Sport TID Auto and would like to stay with an auto diesel. Also I don't actually need low profile tyres and low seating position any longer. I don't want anything "lightweight" and am seriously considering an A-Class Mercedes-Benz 180 CDI Auto but I have read very varied opinions on the CVT box (snatching etc) on this, and cars like the Yaris and Civic. I have driven "proper" autos very happily for some years, but what is your opinion of the CVT in the A180 CDI? I realise that the model can be considered as overpriced so would be looking at very recent used model.

CVTs on A- and B-Class Mercedes-Benz are only just starting to give trouble.
