Head gasket blown on Rover 25 - is it worth fixing?

The head gasket has apparently blown in my 2004 Rover 25 and I have been quoted £1140 for a new one and £700 for a second hand , but no guarantees. I am reeling! Is this a good deal?

Marginal whether it's worth repairing. Common fault because the coolant leaks our of the O ring gaskets between the head and the water heated inlet manifold. See the entry in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar
