Buying a used car - what would you recommend?

We are looking to replace our old Volkswagen Golf Plus, which we love to drive. The problem is we need a bigger boot and better fuel economy. We'd prefer chain driven as opposed to cambelt.

We have £12,000 to spend and want a used SUV with good economy (fuel, insurance and road tax), a diesel engine and automatic box. What could you recommend?

Probably a Ford Grand C-Max 2.0TDCI Powershift. Push hard for a decent discount or use www.drivethedeal.com

No chance of a chain cam unless you go for a KIA Carens 1.7CRDI auto and that's not brilliantly economical. Or go petrol and a Toyota Verso 1.8i Valvematic Multidrive S.

I want to replace my 2000 Volkswagen Passat 1.8 petrol estate with something of a similar size. I need five seats plus room for a wheelchair, and it should be able to cope with regular short journeys....
