Oil pump failure on Citroen C3

I have an on-going oil leak on my Citroen C3 diesel which despite numerous trips to the dealership has not been resolved. On my last visit I was informed that it was the oil pump that was faulty. As the car is three years old and has 62,000 miles, I have found that it is out of warranty and I was forced to pay £230 towards the cost of a new pump, with Citroen paying the rest of the costs as 'goodwill'.

Three weeks after the repair my car cut out on a dual carriageway warning ‘Oil Pressure Low’. I phoned the dealer, but they refused to recover the vehicle, saying it might not be the pump that’s at fault. Yet the RAC and local authorised garage assert is it likely to be oil pup related. Any advice?

Happily you had to fork out for the repair. Even though part of it was covered by 'goodwill' you paid £230 and that put the garage under contract to you to make a good repair as well as liable if it failed to. So tell the garage that if it doesn't recover and repair the car, you will pay for another garage to do this and if any fault is found with the installation of the new oil pump you will sue the garage for the full cost of the repair in the small claims track of the county court.
