Buying a small MPV - which model is best?

My mother needs a replacement for her old 2006 Ford Focus. She is looking for a used small to medium MPV with about the same footprint as the Focus. My father suffers from Alzheimers and needs a lot of assistance to get in the back, plus a large boot for his wheelchair. Which car would you recommend? We have £12,000 to spend.

A Ford B-Max has advantages and disadvantages. No central door pillar is a great help. But you can't slide directly onto the back seat. Otherwise something with sliding doors. Maybe a Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Nissan NV200 Kombi.
