Is £3495 expensive for a 2005 Rover 45 GSI with 40,000 miles?

I am considering buying a 2005 Rover 45 GSI with a mileage of 40,000. It looks to be in very good condition and the asking price is £3495. Is this a reasonable price for this vehicle?

We presume this is a Rover 45 hatchback (and not the saloon). 50,000 miles is about average for a car this age so this example is slightly below that. As a result that price looks about right if you're buying it from a franchised dealer. However, if it's at an independent dealer or being sold privately, it seems quite high. A 50,000-mile example from an independent dealer should be sold at around £2,965 according to the industry price guides.
