Second-hand petrol S-max rare?

After a lot of research I am planning to buy a nearly new petrol S-max.
I am only doing about 10,000 miles a year with a lot of short journeys and I have been put off diesel by DPF and flywheel issues.
Petrol examples, however, seem to be rare in the second-hand market.
95% of the market seems to be diesel variants.
Also, it seems that petrol variants are more expensive to buy than diesel.
Does this reflect the numbers bought or do people tend not to buy petrol S-max cars?

Very few petrol S-max out there. Very few nearly new S max because of the closing down of the Gent factory. But you can now get one with the 160PS 1.6 EcoBoost petrol engine and that works very well.
