Cam belt replacement after 10 years - is it really necessary?

I own a 2003 Ford Fiesta Zetec with 80,000 miles on the clock. The car has just passed its MoT and I have been told that the cam belt needs replacing every 10 years or 100,000 miles, at a cost of £350. Is it really something I should have done now or could I wait?

No big history of premature failures with the Ford Fiesta, but if you don't replace it you're taking a big gamble.
