Will 'traffic film' repair paintwork damage on my new Skoda Yeti?

On Friday 21st May I took delivery of my new red non-metallic paint Skoda Yeti and, later that day, was told by a Volkswagen-trained mechanic that there was evidence of "fallout" from rail dust or industry in the boot area. I took the car back to the dealer today, when the effect on the paintwork appeared to be patchy but apparent on all body panels, including the roof. The problem appears to have significantly grown during today.

The dealer has yet to confirm what treatment will be carried out but appears to be suggesting the use of Traffic Film remover by an approved Volkswagen body shop. My concern is whether this will cure the problem and whether there is a better treatment? If so, will the the paint now be so badly damaged that the problem cannot be cured? I intend to keep the car for up to 10 years so I have long-term concerns.

The car is brand new and covered under warranty, so curing the problem to your satisfaction is Skoda's problem. I'd be surprised if it's a major issue. If the bodyshop is planning to use traffic film remover, it's likely that there's some protective wax that hasn't been properly removed. If this is the case, I would expect there to be no further problems and no long term damage to the paint.
