Honda Jazz damaged by faulty handbrake – who should pa for the repairs?

My Honda Jazz has covered less than 7000 miles and has suffering from handbrake problems. Last week the car ran down our driveway and hit the garage, damaging the front bumper. The dealer checked the car and said it was properly adjusted, but there was obviously a problem. A few days later they called to say that Honda had authorised the replacement of the rear discs and callipers because they wanted the parts for further inspection and testing.

This cured the problem, but Honda and its dealer refuse to consider paying for (or contributing to) repairs to the damaged bumper as there was no fault visible with the handbrake mechanism or discs/callipers.

I am puzzled how there can be evidence of a problem, which is cured by replacement parts, but no liability. What would be your advice?

This is quite a common problem with the Jazz but I don't think the dealer is liable for the consequential damage.
