Will I incur costs for a credit hire car if I dispute the valuation of my damaged car following an accident?

My 2004 SEAT Altea 1.6 Stylance was written off in a rear end shunt. My insurance company agreed I am not to blame. They have valued the car at £5100, which is less than What Car? says I can buy one from a dealer (£5,370) and, in reality, is significantly less than I can find a replacement for (approx £6000 with a significant trip to buy it). I have a hire car from Drive Assist, but I'm worried that if I dispute the claim I will incur significant costs on this. Where do I stand here?

Since I am making a claim against another party, surely they have a duty to put me back on the road in a similar position to before and not £900 out of pocket? Whilst I appreciate book prices are useful guides, they don't seem to reflect local market reality and the inconvenience of a no-fault claim. I will end up paying for things which I had no intention of spending money on.

You will include significant costs for the credit hire car if you dispute the claim. So if you intend disputing it, hand the credit hire car back.
