Removal of DPF system

I see that several companies are offering the removal of the diesel particulate filter system for the Volkswagen Passat, followed by a remap as a practical solution to DPF problems. Would you recommend this course of action?

No, because sooner or later checking the DPF will become part of the MoT and it is illegal in EC law anyway to remove any part of the emissions equipment of a car. So far this has not been enforced in the UK, but it could be at any time. A VOSA roadside check could instantly put your car off the road.
