Lots of 2.2-litre diesels - which to avoid?

Everyone seems to offer 2.2 diesel engines.
Honda, Nissan, Lexus, Ford.
Should any of these engines be avoided?

X-trail comes with 2.2 or 2.0 diesel engines, which is best?

A friend recently needed a new clutch on his Mondeo 2.2 titanium diesel.

It cost him about £700 because he needed a new flywheel. Is this a normal serviceable part on most engines when replacing the clutch?

The X-Trail Nissan 2.2 preceded the 2.0 Renault diesel engine in the Mk II X Trail. But probably the best of the current crop of 2.2s is the Mazda 2.2d 150PS Skyactiv engine.
